This site is dedicated to helping all RV’ers and researching, reporting and compiling reports on money saving projects along with tech tips, technology tips, rv maintenance and related articles .

I am currently in the central coast of Calif.   With my site my goal as it’s  always been is to help fellow future, and current full-timers and RV'ers in general. Look for more special RV and camping projects, helpful hints and tricks, rv accessories and modifications at a big savings. A lot more on the technology side for RV'ers for mobile internet as well as campground and RV park reviews. I’ll soon be posting more on workamping and campground hosting too. Feel free to send me your reviews and special rv related projects and I will post them as well.  As always I continue to provide free wi-fi to all camped near me so if you are nearby be sure to let me know and I'll get you hooked up. As usual my blog will contain my daily adventures and antics for your viewing pleasure.  All my projects not only deal with 5th wheels, but motorhomes,  travel trailers and all types of RV’s. Coming soon will be more on Geocaching and GPS projects. Due to the huge amount of traffic and badndwidth my site now gets it was necessary for me to purchase a dedicated server and line in order to have more control over things and handle the load. Enjoy the site and safe travels!

Cooling off for the summer!

 amcor1.jpg

For a HOT summer…….

A few hints and things I’ve done in setting my 5th wheel up for the long hot dog days of summer.  Now I may be gone during some of this time, but the RV will remain cooler lol!

The rear of my 5th wheel sits in the RV park facing the west and the afternoon sun.  What I’ve done here is to as Reflectix to the rear windows facing the afternoon sun. Before I put this on yesterday I noticed the window itself was pretty hot and it was only in the mid 80’s! Once I put the Reflectix up it made quite a bit of difference!

Now  the biggie and yep another real big time money saver! Being in the valley or anywhere where it’s over 100 like it gets here some days for several days on end. I only had the one Carrier Air V that came with the 5’er. 13,500 BTU A/C was NOT enough fort that kind of heat. I knew eventually I’d have to ad another A/C. I did my research as usual and went the unconventional route (as I usually so lol). Another RV type A/C added over the bedroom would run after cost and install around $900 to $1,0000, plus need 50 amp service as well.

After extensive research AND with great apprehension lol I bought a Amcor  KF 9000E portable A/C  at Home Depot for just at $300.  I had heard these thing were noisy and didn’t work well so I figured I could take it back if I had to, but also had read raving reports too. To mew these trhingsa cost less to run and movile and great for all recreational vehicles, inlcuding motro homes, travel trailers and anyone wanting to cut electric costs or the abilkity to run both a/c's in their Rv with 30 amp service!

Extended run time fuel tank for Honda 2000
While dry camping I got tired of fueling the Honda 2000 once or more times a day depending on use. I decided enough of that and after a little surfing on the web decided to make my own extended run time fuel tank. I found these on line for $100 or more + shipping. The exact same thing. Mine cost me a whopping $26! Somebody is making some serious profit on these lol!

Thumbs up  by readers on this project!
